What's Inside?
Balsam Fir
The majestic, evergreen balsam fir tree produces a warming, refreshing essential oil. Native to North America, the tree can tower over 24 metres in height and produces needle-like leaves. Native Americans historically used balsam fir for rituals and wellness purposes. Primarily used for pulp and construction, the balsam fir tree does not respond well to urban pollution and is not plentiful in cities, preferring to grow in the woods where the air is fresh and clean. As a main constituent, ß-Pinene may be effective in soothing the skin when applied topically as part of a calming massage. Balsam Fir essential oil is steam-distilled from the bark of the tree, producing a fresh, woody aroma.
Black Pepper
Black Pepper is a well-known cooking spice used to enhance the flavour of foods. Described as hot, sharp, fruity, and spicy, Black Pepper essential oil can be added to meats, soups, entrées, and salads to enhance flavour. Although Black Pepper is commonly known for its vast culinary uses, its topical benefits are equally noteworthy.
Hinoki
Derived from the wood of the Japanese Hinoki tree, Hinoki essential oil is soothing to the skin. When applied topically, its fresh, woody and balsamic aroma helps to provide a relaxing environment. Additionally, Hinoki essential oil provides a soothing massage. In Japan, the oil is frequently used in baths for relaxation and the tree itself has been used for centuries to build shrines and temples. doTERRA utilises by-product of Hinoki trees from the timber industry and culled trees for the production of Hinoki essential oil, ensuring that no part of these prized trees goes to waste. In addition, doTERRA has instituted a unique sourcing model that ensures production of Hinoki essential oil contributes to Japan’s forest management programs as well as creates jobs in rural Japan. This unique, premium oil continues to give back to the people of its native land.
Patchouli
Easily recognised for its rich, musky-sweet fragrance, Patchouli is regularly used in the perfume industry as well as in scented products like laundry detergents and air fresheners. Patchouli essential oil is beneficial to the skin in many ways. It may also help to cleanse and soothe the skin. Additionally, the fragrance of Patchouli may help promote feelings of calmness.
